Ice Cave Tour - Extra Small Group
This Journey begins with a 4x4 ride in a modified Super Jeep heading towards one of the Vatnajökull glacial outlets. Once we get close, we will walk through recently shaped landscapes and over moraines to reach the edge of the glacier to explore the beauty of the Vatnajökull glacier. This tour takes you the most beautiful ice cave on offer at the time. Ice caves are a natural phenomena that melt away during summer and reform during winter and we select only the best ice cave there is each season. This will most likely be the Sapphire Ice Cave which honors its name with an array of blue & green hues and sculpture-like details. Surround yourself with magnificent blue ice and live the experience that our travelers often consider as “magical”. As is nature’s way, glaciers and ice caves are ever-changing dynamic living formations that will be last seen by you and only a handful of others.
What you'll see & do
- ✓Pick up location is in the car park at Jökulsárlón, next to the cafeteria. From there we take our clients in a modified Super Jeep for a 35 Minute ride to the glacier.
- ✓Once we arrive close to the glacier, we will disembark and continue our journey on foot. Walking in the recently shaped glacier valley and finally arriving to the ice cave opening on the edge of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier outlet.
- ✓Put on your crampons and explore the Ice Cave. Follow your guide as he takes you deep inside the crystal cave, explaining the formations you are witnessing and answering your most curious questions.

- ✓Helmet, headlight, microspikes.
What's not included
- ✓For this tour you'll need to bring outdoor clothing and decent hiking boots for walking towards the cave.
- ✓It can sometimes rain in Iceland so bringing raingear(jacket and pants) is highly recommended!

How it works
THANK YOU for booking the Ice Cave Tour. We are looking forward to meeting you and creating memories with you. Our tour is typically around 3-4 hrs long and we can expect all kinds of weather: rain, wind or snow. So please make sure you bring warm outdoor clothing and waterproof layers. We like to leave early and on time to avoid crowds, so please arrive 15 minutes before the start time of the tour. But we do not want you to take any risks while driving to the tour. Take it easy and please always check www.road.is and www.safetravel.is before beginning your journey. Your guide will meet you at Jökulsárlón, close to the Heading North car: a silver Toyota Land Cruiser with our logo on it. The car will be parked close to the WC and other big buses.
