Construction of the mosque and mineral began in the 12th century during the reign of the Almohad ruler, Yacoub al-Mansour. the tower stands at 44 meters (140 feet) tall and features intricate decorative details, such as calligraphy and geometric patterns.

The tombs are made of white onyx and situated beneath a large dome.
