Walk & Canal Tour: Copenhagen Highlights + Changing of the Guard Finale

4.9 (1252) 🕑 3 hours Free cancellation

Please arrive 10 minutes early. We meet inside Copenhagen Central Station, in the very middle of the main hall directly under the big clock, between 7-Eleven and the red ticket machines. Experience the best of the city with a local host on this tour, with 5 to 7 km of walking and a 25 minute ride on the public canal ferry*, the water bus locals use (public transport, not a sightseeing boat). DISCLAIMER: Boarding the canal ferry is not guaranteed, as seats cannot be reserved. In high season it can be full on busy weekends and sunny afternoons. *If the canal ferry is full or out of service, we walk the scenic route of about 2 km along the canals instead and still cover the full itinerary. Discover top sights, hidden gems, and witness the Changing of the Guards at the royal palace, Amalienborg. We begin with a 1-hour walk to the Black Diamond, where we board the canal ferry (if it is not full) for about 25 minutes past Børsen, the Opera House and Nyhavn. Your host shares stories, and tips as we glide through the city’s waterways. After the ferry, we continue on foot for 1 hour to other sights, and take a short break at a café for a boost of energy before we reach Amalienborg Palace and the guard change. Tours starting on the hour end at Amalienborg; tours starting at half past (9:30, 11:30 and 13:30) continue after the guard change and end in Nyhavn. Note: This walking tour from Go Like a Local requires a steady pace and is not suitable for those with walking difficulties.
