What you'll see & do

  • After pickup from your hotel in Cusco’s Historic Center, we will travel to Chinchero, a traditional Andean community located at approximately 3,760 meters (12,336 feet) above sea level. Our first stop will be the Chinchero Archaeological Site, where you will enjoy a guided visit to explore the main remains of the former Inca complex. Along the way, you will walk through its extensive agricultural terraces and see the stone walls, structures of the former settlement, and water channels that demonstrate how the Incas organized and made use of the landscape. The visit will also provide an opportunity to see the colonial remains preserved at the site and understand how different periods of Chinchero’s history overlap within the same setting. You will have time to explore at a relaxed pace, take photographs, and appreciate the mountain scenery surrounding the Sacred Valley.
  • We will then visit the Acllas Textile Center, where you will gain an insight into the traditional craftsmanship that remains an important part of the communities of Chinchero. During the visit, local artisans will demonstrate the different stages involved in producing Andean textiles, from selecting, cleaning, and preparing alpaca fiber to spinning it into yarn. You will also have the opportunity to observe traditional weaving techniques, learn about the tools used by the artisans, and see how different designs and patterns are incorporated into the textiles. The visit also includes an explanation of natural dyes, made from plants, flowers, roots, and other elements found in the region to produce a range of colors. Throughout the demonstration, you will learn about the knowledge and techniques passed down through generations, as well as the cultural meaning reflected in some of the designs and motifs used in Andean textiles.
  • After visiting Moray, we'll continue to Maras, a small Andean town that preserves elements of its colonial heritage and local cultural traditions. As we pass through the area, you'll be able to admire the characteristic scenery of the Sacred Valley and learn more about the history and traditions of this traditional community.
  • Next, we'll visit the famous Maras Salt Mines, one of the Sacred Valley's most unique attractions. The site consists of thousands of small salt pools built along the mountainside. Saltwater is channeled into the pools and, as the water evaporates, leaves behind salt that is later collected. Salt production in the region is a long-standing tradition that has been maintained by local communities for generations. The combination of the white salt pools, mountains, and Andean terrain creates a particularly striking landscape.
  • After a morning of exploring, we'll stop for lunch at a tourist restaurant in Urubamba, in the heart of the Sacred Valley. Lunch will be served buffet-style at Don Angel Tourist Restaurant, giving you time to relax and enjoy Peruvian cuisine before continuing the tour. Urubamba is located at approximately 2,870 meters above sea level and is known for its mountain scenery, pleasant climate, and the Urubamba River, which accompanies part of the route through the Sacred Valley.
  • We'll continue to Ollantaytambo, one of the most important and best-preserved towns in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, located at approximately 2,792 meters above sea level. The town preserves elements of Inca urban planning, including stone streets, buildings, and water channels that remain part of its landscape. During the Inca period, Ollantaytambo played important administrative, ceremonial, and military roles. During the visit, you'll explore its impressive stone structures and admire the mountains surrounding the town while gaining a better understanding of its strategic and cultural importance in Inca history.
